What impact have the so-called new media really on higher education development and quality of teaching?
I was invited as part of the 15th Meeting of the FNMA in November 2007 to offer a Kufstein workshop on "blindness" .
last few months I'll be happy to speak on this subject and at the last meeting I have FNMA under the Open Space spontaneously initiated a workshop on this topic to life. (.'s Also the reason for the current workshop invitation) is the protocol to it here, where the issue at that time, very open plan, has taken its own course.
The central theses / Questions (work in pogress) :
- We are happy to tell you GGS. that students today is the "digital natives" and that would be the teachers or even we ourselves something like "Digital Imigrantes" are. But we have not a false image of students? What about the really media literacy of students? And how about all the other skills that are necessary for independent learning on the WWW (learning skills, self-control, evaluation of content, manage information, ..., tbc, ...).
- eLearning-Expert/inn/en We deal with like the educational potential of our available new media / technology. I am developing, for example, like teaching and learning scenarios, in which students (with teachers) collaboratively-content he can work out and. Others are developing virtual laboratories or draw lectures in video and audio. we therefore comply but the educational needs of our students? A recurring outcropping result in the evaluations carried out by me, is that students do above all that are scripts and PowerPoint presentations online, and that you are online tests for self-examination are available. How seriously should we take such preferences of students? And what does this mean for our work?
- we overestimate not the role of so called "new media" on the higher education development? Does the quality and the development of the doctrine does not depend on many factors? And how important are the factors as "media literacy" and "didactic flexible use of" new media? Is this perhaps to basic requirements such as reading ability, ...?
- ... tbc ...
workshop schedule:
- presentation of evaluation results ( own and possibly also by participants held / n)
- collection of issues to be discussed
- Discussion (1 / 2 hour)
- Toys the results
